Chow, P.E., today announced that the agency has received the 2018 Water Environment Foundation’s (WEF) Public Communication and Outreach Program award for the YH20 Water Mentoring Program. This DPW program prepares young Baltimoreans for a career in the water industry.

DPW Reports Sewer Overflows Related to Rain

So far July 2018 is the second wettest month in the history of record-keeping in Baltimore. The continuous rainfall has resulted in tremendous amounts of rainwater entering the City's sewer mains, causing numerous overflows into area streams and the harbor.

Financial Assistance for Eligible Water Customers to Increase

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will increase the amount of financial assistance offered to certain low-income City water customers, matching the upcoming adjustment in water and sewer rates. Starting July 1, 2018, water/sewer charges will increase by 9.4 percent.
