Trash and Recycling Collection Update

Solid Waste Continuity of Service Plan

Trash collections are continuing as regularly scheduled. Please call 311 to report any missed trash collections.

Residents are invited to submit any questions or concerns about the Continuity of Service Plan to: [email protected].

Baltimore City Department of Public Works Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark Aug. 27 outlined the Solid Waste Continuity of Service Plan to allow the Department to continue to provide residents with recycling collections and to solidify the Bureau of Solid Waste’s long-term trash collection operations.

A key part of this plan is the modification of the City’s residential recycling services. Effective Monday, August 31, all DPW recycling collections’ crews will be diverted to trash collections on a full-time basis. While this plan is in effect, recycling will no longer be collected from residences.

Starting Monday, Aug. 31, DPW will open Community Collection Centers for recycling in each of the 14 City Council Districts, and five DPW Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Centers are available to accept recycling.

Community Collections Centers’ Hours of Operation Extended

Effective Monday, Sept. 14, the Community Collection Centers’ hours for all locations will be extended on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The Centers will continue to be open to City residents Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for recycling drop-off.  The Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Centers’ hours will remain unchanged.

Know What to Throw When Visiting a DPW Recycling Collection Center

When visiting a Recycling Collection Center, please make sure that you are recycling right. Plastic bags filled with recycling should not be placed in the containers at the Collection Center locations.
