Baltimore City Department of Public Works Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark Aug. 27 outlined the Solid Waste Continuity of Service Plan to allow the Department to continue to provide residents with recycling collections and to solidify the Bureau of Solid Waste’s long-term trash collection operations.

A key part of this plan is the modification of the City’s residential recycling services. Effective Monday, August 31, all DPW recycling collections’ crews will be diverted to trash collections on a full-time basis. While this plan is in effect, recycling will no longer be collected from residences.

Starting Monday, Aug. 31, DPW will open Community Collection Centers for recycling in each of the 14 City Council Districts, and five DPW Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Centers are available to accept recycling.

Community Collection Centers Now Open on Saturdays

Effective Oct. 31, all Community Collection Centers will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. for recycling. Community Collection Centers weekday hours of operation: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Centers’ hours will remain unchanged.
