DPW Reports Sewer Overflows Due to Heavy Rains

An estimated 4.1 million gallons of sewage mixed with rain water was released into the Jones Falls on Monday, April 16, due to water infiltrating the sewer system during the heavy rainstorms. 

DPW Director Chow Named Engineer of the Year by Baltimore’s Engineering Society

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., has been named Civil Engineer of the Year by the Engineering Society of Baltimore (ESB).  The Director received the award in a ceremony at the Engineering Society on April 12. 

DPW Celebrates Earth Week

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is ready to celebrate Mother Earth! During Earth Week, DPW will host a “Recycling Trifecta” (Saturday, April 21) and Clean Your Files Day (Monday, April 23) and cap off the week with the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup (Saturday, April 28).

Baltimore City Department of Public Works Expedited Reimbursement Program Begins

Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E. today announced that a new Expedited Reimbursement Program for sewage backup cleaning and disinfection goes into effect this Friday, April 6, 2018. The program allows for reimbursement to residential customers for cleaning and disinfection costs associated with sewage backups caused by wet weather.  Events that occurred before April 6, 2018 are not eligible.

John Chalmers Sworn In as Head of the DPW Bureau of Solid Waste

Mr. John F. Chalmers was sworn in today as the new Head of the Bureau of Solid Waste for the City of Baltimore’s Department of Public Works.  Mayor Catherine E. Pugh administered the oath of office at the City Hall ceremony.  Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow. P.E., and Mr. Chalmer’s family, friends, and co-workers were in attendance. Baltimore City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young was also in attendance.
