DPW Offices, Yards Closed for Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2018

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds citizens that Labor Day is a City holiday. DPW offices and yards will be CLOSED.

DPW Reports Sewer Overflows Related to Recent Rainfall

Saturated ground, coupled with heavy rainfall during the night of August 21-22, led to major rainwater infiltration into the City's sewer mains, causing overflows into area streams.

DPW Dedicates Mural Created by Summer Youth Workers

Youth workers assigned to the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) this summer learned what it means to be a DPW worker, collaborating with a local artist to create community-based artwork highlighting how the department serves the City of Baltimore every day.

Two Monday Downpours Lead to Overflows

Two downpours on Monday, Aug. 13, resulted in approximately 592,000 gallons of stormwater mixed with sewer water spilling from the sewer system into city waterways. The overnight rain Monday morning resulted in 475,000 gallons escaping from structured overflows, while another 117,000 gallons spilled from structured overflows in the early evening.
