UPDATE: The Mayor’s Spring Cleanup

Due to the COVID-19 Emergency Response and the need to follow best practices of social distancing, the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup has been cancelled.

“We appreciate all residents who take the time to clean their communities. Everyone can still do their part by keeping the area around their home or business clean of litter and debris,” said Acting DPW Director Garbark. “We look forward to the October 24th Fall Cleanup and encourage everyone to participate then!”

Statement: Body found at Back River Treatment Plant

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark issued the following statement on the discovery of a body at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant on February 21, 2020:

Sadly, we report this morning that at approximately 8:24 a.m., Officers were called to the 8200 block of Eastern Avenue, 21224, where the body of a man was discovered in an inlet pipe at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant.

I regret to report that the worker injured during an incident at DPW’s Druid Park Lake Underground Tank Project has passed away.

DPW Statement on Injured Contractor

Today, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark issued the following statement regarding a contractor injured while working on the Druid Tank Project: We are saddened to announce that a contractor was injured in an incident that occurred at DPW’s Druid Park Lake Underground Tank Project on February 17, 2020.

Clean It Up! Registration Begins for the Annual Mayor’s Spring Cleanup

In conjunction with Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young’s "Clean It Up!" Campaign, comes the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup.  This annual cleaning opportunity gives residents a chance to pitch-in and clean up their neighborhoods.
