A sudden downpour on Sunday, Aug. 18, contributed to a sewer overflow of about 13,000 gallons of stormwater mixed with sewer water into the Jones Falls.

Traffic is fully restored along Pratt Street, and two northbound and two southbound lanes on Howard Street are now open, marking the progress that the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and its partners are making on the intersection’s complex infrastructure repairs.

This week’s heavy rains contributed to three sewer overflows, discharging 1.87 million gallons of stormwater mixed with sewer water. Most of the overflow volume stemmed from the severe rain that pounded parts of Baltimore City during the Tuesday, August 6, evening rush hour.
