Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell today announced that DPW has published its 2020 Water Quality Report. The report shows that the water we provide to residential and commercial customers continues to meet or exceed regulatory standards.

DPW Announces Restart of Graffiti Removal Services for Private Property

Today, Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell announced that the Department of Public Works will restart graffiti removal services for private property, both residential and commercial. Mayor Brandon M. Scott has made this initiative a priority as part of his strategy to clean up the city and DPW is proud to support this effort.

Acting Director Mitchell Names Yvonne Moore-Jackson Acting Head of Bureau of Solid Waste

Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell  has appointed Yvonne Moore-Jackson as the Acting Head for the Bureau of Solid Waste in the Department of Public Works (DPW). Prior to this appointment, Ms. Moore-Jackson served as the Chief of Operations for the Bureau of Solid Waste.

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed for Memorial Day Holiday City Holiday: Monday, May 31

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell reminds residents that Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021, is a City holiday.  DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. Weekly trash and recycling collections are NOT impacted by the Memorial Day closure. Monday is not a scheduled curbside trash or recycling collection day.

DPW Announces Restart of Graffiti Removal Services

Today, the Department of Public Works (DPW) announced a modified restart of Graffiti Removal Services. Going forward, graffiti will only be removed from public property and public assets, such as light poles, statues, etc. DPW will no longer provide removal services for private property and will instead refer inquiries to local service providers.

DPW Announces Jason W. Mitchell Begins as Acting Director

The  Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that Jason W. Mitchell has officially assumed the Department's Acting Director position. Mayor Brandon M. Scott appointed Mitchell to the role in March. He most recently served as the Assistant City Administrator for the City of Oakland. Mitchell comes to Baltimore with a long history of public service and a reputation for being a transformational leader.

Mayor Scott, DPW Launch New Community Cleanup Pilot in Partnership with CHM

Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) have announced a community cleanup pilot program in partnership with the Coldstream Homestead Montebello (CHM) Community Corporation. The pilot program will enhance DPW cleaning services by hiring residents of this community to clean up their neighborhood. 

Boating Season Begins at Two Reservoirs: Liberty and Pretty Boy to Open at Sunrise on April 1

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to announce the official beginning of boating season at Liberty and Prettyboy Reservoirs on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Boat docks at each reservoir will open at sunrise. At Liberty and Prettyboy reservoirs, boating season normally runs through December 31. At Loch Raven Reservoir, boating season will begin on April 2, 2021, and normally runs through the last Sunday in November, with a limited schedule after Labor Day.
