Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young today announced that recruitment is underway for the next class of YH2O Career Mentoring Program participants. Applications will be accepted now through February 14, 2020. To date, 69 residents have completed the Program, which prepares young Baltimoreans for entry-level jobs in the water industry.
On Thursday, January 23, 2020, the Annual Consent Decree Public Meeting will be held at 1800 Washington Blvd., headquarters of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), in Baltimore. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will update residents on work to comply with the Modified Consent Decree for the City’s sewer collection system. The annual meeting to discuss this is 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. The meeting is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

When our region goes through freeze and thaw cycles, especially when accompanied by heavy rain, the ground shifts and pipes break. Yesterday, we had over 25 broken mains to repair using our DPW crews and contractors for the work. As some mains were repaired, others broke, often many miles away. We kept at the repair work all night long.
