Get Ready for Earth Day: A Recycling Trifecta

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) celebrates Earth Day with a Recycling Trifecta:  Paper Shredding, Recycle Bin Sale, and a Plastic Bag Takeback on Saturday, April 13. The event will take place at the Edmondson-Westside High School, 501 N. Athol Ave. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is for Baltimore City residents onlyOn this day, DPW will offer free paper shredding for city residents, will take back plastic bags, and recycling bins will be on sale at discounted prices.

DPW Releases Water Quality Report for 2018

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has published its 2018 Water Quality Report, which shows that the water that we provide to residential and commercial customers continues to meet or exceed regulatory standards. This annual report informs residents where the City’s drinking water comes from, how the water is treated, what it contains, and how it meets federal standards for tap water.

Sanitary Sewer Overflows Totals Updated

As reported last week, a mixture of storm water mixed with sewer water overflowed into the Jones Falls and Herring Run overnight on Thursday, March 21, and into early Friday morning as a result of infiltration from heavy rains.

At least 22.6 million gallons of storm water mixed with sewer water overflowed into the Jones Falls and Herring Run overnight Thursday, March 21, and into early Friday morning as a result of infiltration from heavy rains. The overflows were reported from multiple locations.

Spring is here! DPW Offers Cleaning, Greening Opportunities

Spring has finally sprung! To mark the official start of spring, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to offer a springtime lineup of cleaning and greening opportunities. Baltimore City residents, neighborhood and civic groups are urged to sign up for the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup. An annual tradition, this year’s Spring Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
