Baltimore City, County to Host Public Meetings to Brief Residents on Process to Identify and Report Water Service Line Material 

The Baltimore Service Line Partnership has announced two public meetings for Baltimore City and County residents to learn what water customers need to do to identify and report their water service line material. The Baltimore Service Line Partnership is a collaboration between the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) to address new federal regulations aimed at protecting communities from lead exposure in drinking water.

DPW Snow Update: Friday’s Trash, Recycling Collections Suspended Sanitation Yards, Residential Drop-off Center, Customer Service Office Closed Early

Due to today’s steadily falling snow, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Solid Waste crews are unable to conduct trash and recycling collections on Friday, Jan. 19. Monday, Jan. 22, is the anticipated make-up day for Friday’s trash and recycling collections.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 20, limited Solid Waste crews will be out addressing missed pickups from this week, if weather and road conditions permit. However, the ability to complete the routes will depend on whether the snow and ice have thawed enough for the alleys to be accessible.

DPW Holiday Schedule:  Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed New Year's Day, Monday, January 1 Christmas Tree Mulching Service, Collections Are Underway

In observance of New Year’s Day, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Interim Director Richard J. Luna reminds residents that DPW offices and Sanitation Yards will be CLOSED Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. The holiday closure does NOT impact residential trash and recycling collections. Mechanical street sweeping, and scheduled Monday leaf collections WILL NOT be in effect.

DPW Receives USDA Grant to Support Development of Food Waste Reduction Strategies

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Office of Waste Diversion has received $264,840 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to work with local partners on a pilot program to reduce and divert food waste from landfills and incineration.

DPW Completes Projects to Cover  Remaining Open-Air, Treated Water Reservoirs at Ashburton and Druid Lake

On Thursday, Dec.21, 2023, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Interim Director Richard J. Luna announced that both projects to cover the remaining open-air, treated water reservoirs at Ashburton and Druid Lake have been successfully completed and the new      tanks are in service. For DPW, this achievement marks the end of open-air reservoirs to store treated drinking water, adding another layer of protection to the region’s water supply.
