Redevelopment Stormwater Waiver
The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for redevelopment stormwater waiver in accordance with Article 7 Section 23 of the City Code. If granted, the waiver would allow the construction of this project to be governed by the rules and requirements of to Baltimore City’s Ordinance 10-277. The applicant must provide stormwater management for the proposed project whether or not the waiver is granted.
Applicant: , Mr. Max Ryan, COPT Development and Construction, 6711 Gateway Drive, Suite 300, Columbia, MD 21046.
Project Description: COPT Development and Construction is proposing to construct a 7 story parking garage on the existing surface parking lot adjacent to the Canton Crossing Tower, aka 1st Mariner Tower, in order to alleviate parking issues associated with the Tower and the associated waterfront property.
The features of the parking garage include:
1. Parking for up to 1253 vehicles.
2. Seven levels of parking.
3. Implementation of Environmental Site Design to the Maximum Extent Possible using an interior structural BMP (Sand Filter) to provide the required water quality.
This project qualifies for the Quantitative control waiver under §23-1-(A) of the Baltimore City SWM Ordinance. Environmental Site Design on this site was implemented to Maximum Extent Practicable by providing a structural BMP (interior Sand Filter) and has direct discharge of stormwater to Tidal Waters.
