Early Recycling Collection for South Baltimore During Grand Prix of Baltimore

BALTIMORE MD (August 15, 2013) - The Grand Prix of Baltimore, presented by SRT, will be a major motorsports event in the streets of the Baltimore, running from the historic Inner Harbor to Camden Yard, Labor Day weekend, August 30 - Sept.1, 2013. Because of the expected heavy traffic conditions during the race, DPW’s Solid Waste crews will start recycling pickups in the South Baltimore area prior to the regular 6 a.m. set out time.

Residents who live in these areas should set out their recycle items for pickup after 6 p.m. Thursday night, August 29, for the regularly scheduled Friday, August 30, pickup only.

After August 30, residents should set out their recycle items according to the regular collection schedule - between 6 p.m. the night before and 6 a.m. the day of collection. Residents that normally have Friday recycle pickups and who live in the following areas will be affected:

Due to weather advisories issued by the National Weather Service, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is cancelling all trash and recycling collections and mechanical street sweeping services on Friday, August 9, 2024. The trash and recycling make-up day will be Monday, August 12.

DPW to Pause Trash and Recycling Collections on Tuesday, August 6

In response to the tragic death of Department of Public Works (DPW) crewmember Ronald Silver II at the end of last week and as part of our ongoing commitment to employee safety, DPW will conduct a mandatory heat safety training session on Tuesday, August 6. This session will focus on the Occupational Safety Health Administration’s guidelines for recognizing the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and related illnesses and ensure employees recognize heat stress hazards and act appropriately to address those hazards. It is required for all employees from the Reedbird and Bowleys Lane facilities. Transportation will be provided to accommodate all staff.
