TODAY, Friday Aug. 9: DPW Cancels ALL Solid Waste Services---Recycling, Trash, Street Sweeping, Landfill Operations Suspended and Drop-off Centers Closed

Due to the extended tornado watch issued for the Baltimore area by the National Weather Service, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is cancelling ALL Solid Waste services today, Friday, August 9. In addition to the suspension of trash and recycling collections and mechanical street sweeping services, DPW is suspending operations at the Quarantine Road Landfill and at the Northwest Transfer Station and closing all Residential Drop-Off Centers.

The trash and recycling make-up day for Friday’s trash/recycling collections will be Monday, August 12. Residents are reminded that tomorrow, Saturday, August 10, is the make-up day for Tuesday trash/recycling collections, which were suspended due to mandatory training for DPW staff.

  • For residents with a trash/recycling pickup day of Tuesday, August 6, trash/recycling will be collected tomorrow Saturday, August 10.
  • For residents whose trash/recycling pickup day is Friday, August 9, the makeup day will be Monday, August 12.

Today, all DPW Residential Drop-off Centers and the Quarantine Road Landfill and the Northwest Transfer Station will be closed to residents and haulers:

  • Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
  • Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road
  • Northwest Residential Drop-off Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Southwestern Residential Drop-off Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
  • Eastern Residential Drop-off Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

DPW Announces Passing of Solid Waste Worker

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is heartbroken to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our Bureau of Solid Waste, Timothy Cartwell, a solid waste worker assigned to the Reedbird Sanitation Yard. His passing is a profound loss for our agency, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues.
