Baltimore Offers a QR Code for Water Bill Payment

BALTIMORE (Monday, November 10, 2014) - The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has introduced a new, faster, and more convenient way for smartphone or mobile device users to pay their city water bills online.

Customers receiving bills from Baltimore City will notice a QR code on the lower/return portion of the water bill. Customers can scan this code using a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone to be taken directly to a web site where they can pay their bill.

“I am committed to making the DPW a more customer-focused agency, providing the best possible service now and into the future,” said DPW Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E. “The addition of a QR code is another convenience for our customers.”
To take advantage of this code, users will first need to download a free QR code reader from an app store such as Google or iTunes. Then customers can use the app to scan the code and pay their bill anywhere, anytime using the smartphone or mobile device.

QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response Code. This is a two-dimensional code that can be read vertically or horizontally. QR codes are commonly used in magazines, posters, billboards, etc. to provide information, resources or to link users of mobile devices to a website.

TODAY, Friday Aug. 9: DPW Cancels ALL Solid Waste Services---Recycling, Trash, Street Sweeping, Landfill Operations Suspended and Drop-off Centers Closed

Due to the extended tornado watch issued for the Baltimore area by the National Weather Service, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is cancelling ALL Solid Waste services today, Friday, August 9. In addition to the suspension of trash and recycling collections and mechanical street sweeping services, DPW is suspending operations at the Quarantine Road Landfill and at the Northwest Transfer Station and closing all Residential Drop-Off Centers.

Due to weather advisories issued by the National Weather Service, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is cancelling all trash and recycling collections and mechanical street sweeping services on Friday, August 9, 2024. The trash and recycling make-up day will be Monday, August 12.
