Baltimore City, County to Host Public Meetings to Brief Residents on Process to Identify and Report Water Service Line Material
Monday Jan 22nd, 2024
The Baltimore Service Line Partnership has announced two public meetings for Baltimore City and County residents to learn what water customers need to do to identify and report their water service line material. The Baltimore Service Line Partnership is a collaboration between the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) to address new federal regulations aimed at protecting communities from lead exposure in drinking water.
The consecutive public meetings will be held:
- January 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. | Randallstown Community Center 3505 Resource Drive Randallstown, Md. 21133
- January 29, 2024, 6:30 p.m. | Middle Branch Fitness and Wellness Center 201 Reedbird Ave Baltimore, Md. 21225
The meetings are the first in a series of public engagement activities planned over the next 10 months to inform and educate the public about the U.S Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Lead and Copper Rules. Public participation in identifying their water service line material and reporting the results is a critical step toward inventory completion and continued compliance. DPW and DPWT subject matter experts will attend both meetings to answer questions from the public and to demonstrate how to identify water service line material and complete the self-reporting survey.
The meetings are free, parking is free, and the public is invited. However, advance registration is highly encouraged.

The Baltimore Service Line Partnership was formed to comply with the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) that were announced by EPA in 2021. The partnership is managing a comprehensive program to identify lead service lines in the Baltimore water system, and Baltimore City and County residential, commercial, and industrial property owners are urged to complete a Customer Service Line Survey to help the Partnership determine their water service line material.
