Trash and recycling collections will be cancelled on Friday, February 19, due to icy alleys and roadways, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark has announced.

“The City’s alleyways remain quite slick and any melting will likely refreeze overnight. These conditions make collection of trash and recyclables dangerously difficult for sanitation workers,” said Acting Director Garbark.

Yesterday, due to the impending inclement weather, DPW announced the cancellation of trash and recycling collections for Thursday, February 18.

DPW is continuing to monitor weather conditions and will announce make-up days for the Thursday and Friday cancellations tomorrow, February 19.

The ability to complete routes will depend on whether the ice has thawed sufficiently for the alleys to be accessible. DPW asks residents to help to clear alleys of ice and snow where possible.

Due to the inclement weather, the following DPW facilities will be CLOSED on Friday, February 19:

  • Northwest Citizens' Convenience Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Southwestern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
  • Eastern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

The following DPW facilities will remain OPEN:

  • The Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road

Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road.
