Friday Oct 4th, 2019
This weekend enjoy what is being called an “architectural adventure in Baltimore”! This is the sixth annual Doors Open Baltimore, the city’s largest festival of architecture and neighborhoods. This event invites thousands of visitors to explore Baltimore’s neighborhoods, peek inside some of the city’s most stunning spaces, and make meaningful connections to the built environment and the people who design, build, preserve and carry out amazing work in our city.
Among the structures you can explore is the Eastern Avenue Pumping Station, located on the Inner Harbor at President Street and Eastern Avenue. For the first time in nearly 10 years, the building will be open to everyone! Bring your friends and family to visit the Public Works Experience, and find out about the exciting plans to reopen this location as THE place to learn about our infrastructure.
As part of Doors Open Baltimore, the building will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 5. With over 100 years of history, the Eastern Avenue Pumping Station, remains an important part of Baltimore’s sanitary infrastructure.
Only the Public Works Experience area of the facility will be accessible to the public, and visitors will learn about the history of the pumping station, as well as the critical nature of the public infrastructure that makes life in our modern communities possible! (Please use the entrance on the Inner Harbor Promenade).
