Application for Redevelopment Waiver

The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for a redevelopment waiver.

Project Description: The project has an approximate area of 6.58 acres and is located in the southeast corner of The Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus, at 3200 N. Charles Street. The site area includes the recently razed Mattin Center and Whitehead Hall buildings. The project will increase the impervious area by 0.05 acres to 3.39 impervious acres for the new Homewood Campus Student Center. Additional site improvements include an addition to the existing JHU Power Plant building, utility construction, stormwater management facilities, hardscaping, and landscaping.

The Applicant is requesting a redevelopment waiver in accordance with Article 7, §23-7 of the City Code.  The existing impervious area coverage meets the conditions for this waiver.  This phase of the project will provide water quality controls through two (2) underground StormFilter facilities and one (1) Rainwater Harvesting Cistern to satisfy the requirements of this waiver for all of the 1.72 acres of this project.

AND

The Applicant is requesting a qualitative control waiver in accordance with Article 7, Division II, §23-2 of the City Code. The Applicant has demonstrated that the 15,042 square feet of mill and overlay and asphalt replacement will be restored to the existing runoff condition. The Applicant will not be required to provide qualitative control measures for the 15,042 square feet of area for this project.
