The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for a Variance.

Project Description:

The project has an approximate area of 0.64 acres and is located southwesterly at the intersection of Ward Street and W. Ostend Street. The project will consist of the construction of 18 2-STY. Townhouses with associated parking off of an existing alley.

The Applicant is requesting a variance in accordance with Article 7, §24-1 of the City Code. The proposed project meets the conditions for a variance due to exceptional circumstances with regard to the requirement of a surety bond for the stormwater management practice implementation. The proposed stormwater management construction cost estimate is less than $5000 which will cause the bank processing fees to be a majority of the surety bond amount. Strict adherence to the requirements of Division II will result in unnecessary hardship and not fulfill the intent of Division II of the City Code. The project will still be subject to the other regulations under Article 7, Division II, including inspections and certifications.
