The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for a redevelopment waiver. If granted, the project need not comply with the requirements of the State’s Design Manual for quantity control.

Project Description: The project has an approximate disturbed area of 1.56 acres and is located at the Maryland Zoo property, 1876 Mansion House Drive. The proposed work consists of constructing the new African Penguin Exhibit at the old Hippo Building site.

The Applicant is requesting a redevelopment waiver in accordance with Article 7, §23-7 of the City Code. The existing impervious area coverage meets the conditions for this waiver. The project will provide rainwater harvesting, two infiltration trenches and a sand filter for 0.72 acre impervious area to satisfy the requirements of this waiver for 1.56 acres of this project.
