Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Jason W. Mitchell, Ed.D., reminds residents that Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, and Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2022, are City holidays. DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED.

Trash and recycling collections WILL BE impacted by the holiday closures. Make-up days are listed below.

Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022
Trash/Recycling Makeup Day: Saturday, November 12, 2022

Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2022
Trash/Recycling Makeup Day: Monday, November 14, 2022

DPW facilities are closed for both holidays to residents and haulers including:

  • Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
  • Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road
  • Northwest Residential Drop-off Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Southwestern Residential Drop-off Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
  • Eastern Residential Drop-off Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

Mechanical street sweeping WILL NOT be in effect.

Today, Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announced that during a routine test of the Druid Lake Reservoir low levels of the microscopic parasite Cryptosporidium were discovered. Cryptosporidium is a microorganism commonly found in lakes and rivers, which can potentially cause gastrointestinal problems, particularly, in those who are immunocompromised, elderly, or children.

 DPW Launches Textile Recycling Partnership  Blue Bins Available at Residential Drop-off Centers to Collect  Unwanted Clothes, Textile Items

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced that residents can now bring used clothing, shoes, sheets, and other textiles to any of DPW’s five Residential Drop-off Centers, where large blue collection bins will be available.
