Department of Public Works to Host Design and Construction Presentation

BALTIMORE MD (August 5, 2013)
- The Baltimore City Department of Public Works will host the eleventh
annual Design and Construction Presentation on Tuesday, August 13 at the
Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant. The presentation will highlight
upcoming design and construction projects offered by the Department of
Public Works, the Department of Transportation, the Department of
General Services, Baltimore Housing, and Baltimore City Recreation and
Parks. It will also feature Zenita Wickham Hurley, Special Secretary of
Minority Affairs for the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs, as the
guest speaker.

A
variety of consulting and contracting firms have been invited to attend
the event, including minority and woman-owned businesses. Firms will be
able to network with other businesses as they learn about existing
design and construction projects offered by the participating City
departments. In addition, representatives from the City’s Boards and
Commissions office will be in attendance to discuss the procedures
necessary to become a qualified City contractor.

The
presentation will be held in the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant
Auditorium at 8201 Eastern Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to noon.

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed on Independence Day , Thursday, July 4

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Independence Day will be observed on Thursday, July 4, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. The Independence Day closure WILL impact weekly trash and recycling collections. Trash and recycling makeup day is Saturday, July 6, 2024. There will be NO street sweeping during the Independence Day closure.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Juneteenth will be observed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSEDTrash and recycling collections WILL NOT take place on the Juneteenth holiday closure. The trash and recycling make-up day is Saturday, June 22. There will be NO street sweeping during the Juneteenth closure.
