City Holiday Reminder

BALTIMORE, MD (December 28, 2012) – Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx reminds Baltimore City residents that New Year’s Day is a City holiday. Department of Public Works’ offices and yards will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

NEW YEAR’S DAY: 

  • Trash and recycling will NOT be collected.
  • NO bulk trash collections are scheduled.
  • Citizen drop-off centers WILL BE CLOSED (all yards, including Quarantine Road Landfill, the Northwest Transfer Station and the Eastern, Western and Northwest Collections Facilities).
  • Street sweeping will NOT take place.
  • Parking meters will NOT be in effect.
  • Saturday, January 5, 2013 will be the make-up collection day for trash and recycling in those areas that are regularly scheduled for collection on Tuesday.
NOTE: New Year’s Eve IS NOT a City holiday.

DPW Announces Passing of Solid Waste Worker

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is heartbroken to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our Bureau of Solid Waste, Timothy Cartwell, a solid waste worker assigned to the Reedbird Sanitation Yard. His passing is a profound loss for our agency, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues.
