DPW Working to Restore Water After Steam Explosion in Downtown Baltimore

This evening, while BGE crews worked to install a gas line in the 400 Block of W. Pratt Street, a water main line was struck, causing an immense amount of water to spill into the street. Once DPW was notified and while waiting for their arrival, a steam explosion occurred, causing gravel and pieces of the roadway to explode. Four people were injured; three people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries; and one refused treatment.

DPW to Host “In the Works Live!” -- an In-Person Symposium to Discuss State of the Agency, Recycling and More 

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will host “In the Works Live!,” a half-day, in-person symposium where DPW leadership and experts will discuss the state of the department and provide insight on the latest solid waste and water and wastewater issues facing the agency.

Mayor Brandon M. Scott Announces One-Time Water Bill Discount During State of the City Address

During Mayor Brandon M. Scott’s State of the City Address on Monday, April 17, he announced that Baltimore City residential water customers are eligible to receive a one-time, 5 percent discount off their monthly water bill when they enroll in the Paperless Water Billing Program offered by the Department of Public Works. 

Residents Encouraged to Attend Final Public Meeting to Weigh in on the City’s 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan

DPW will hold its fifth and final public meeting on Monday, April 24, to present the final draft of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan and collect comments from community members. The plan covers solid waste collection systems, trash and recycling pickup, composting, and sustainability programs. Public input guides the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan’s development.
