DPW Launches Food Waste Drop-off Pilot Program

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to announce a pilot program for residential food scrap collection for composting in Baltimore City. This will be the first time that the City will be hosting such a program at its Residential Drop-Off Centers. The pilot will launch on Monday, July 12, 2021.

EPA Administrator Visits City Water Plant to Announce $50 Million in National Environmental Justice Initiatives, Support for YH20 Program

Today, at the City of Baltimore’s Ashburton Water Filtration Plant, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan announced that the agency will provide $50 million dollars for Environmental Justice initiatives through funds allocated to EPA under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Under the Environmental Justice initiatives, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will receive $200,000 in federal grant funding to expand the YH2O Career Mentoring Program.

Unique Public-Private Partnership to Modernize Baltimore’s Recycling Collection and Infrastructure

The City of Baltimore announced today a groundbreaking collaboration brought together by The Recycling Partnership, with American Beverage’s Every Bottle Back initiative, Closed Loop Partners, Dow Packing & Specialty Plastics, the Baltimore Civic Fund, and Rehrig Pacific that will greatly expand Baltimore residents’ access to safe, effective recycling and improved collection infrastructure.

DPW Extends Comment Period for the Water for All Regulations New Comment Deadline: Saturday, July 17, 2021

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is extending public comment on draft regulations to facilitate the implementation of the new Water for All Discount Program, serving eligible Baltimore City households with incomes below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Under the extended comment period, the public has until Saturday, July 17, 2021, to review and comment on the draft regulations. Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell will consider public input before finalizing the proposed regulations.
