Veterans Day Closures and Service Interruptions

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds residents that Veterans Day will be observed as a City holiday on Friday, November 10, 2017, and that DPW offices will be closed on that day.

DPW Designated a Finalist in the GBC Bridging the Gap Achievement Award

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works was named a finalist in the Greater Baltimore Committee’s 14th Annual Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards.  The awards were presented November 1 during a ceremony honoring businesses and minority and women-owned firms for business achievement and efforts to strengthen minority business development.

DPW Reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works estimates that 17,710 gallons of wastewater overflowed into the Gwynns Falls in recent days as a result of structural damage to a segment of 8” sewer pipe in the 2500 block of Edmondson Avenue.

DPW Repairs Leaking Portions of Aged Sewer Pipe

A stubborn discharge from a series of breaks in an 89-year-old sewer pipe under the 2500 block of W. Lexington Street has been stopped, about a month and a half after the breaks were diagnosed.

DPW Reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow Stopped

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works estimates that over 41,000 gallons of wastewater overflowed into the Jones Falls between Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, and this morning, Monday, October 23, 2017.

DPW’s Chow Named to EPA Environmental Financial Advisory Board

Today, DPW was honored to receive the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance.  This award comes just as DPW Director Rudy S. Chow, P.E., is appointed to the Environmental Financial Advisory Board (EFAB), an arm of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
