City Reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow

BALTIMORE, MD (May 3, 2014) – The Baltimore City Department of Public Works announced that a sanitary sewer overflow was corrected on Friday evening, May 2, in the 3000 block of Wilkens Avenue. The overflow had been reported the afternoon of Thursday, May 1, and until a DPW crew was able to correct the problem an estimated 39,000 gallons of sewage flowed into the nearby Gwynns Falls.
The DPW encourages residents to report suspected sewer overflows to 311. The Maryland Department of the Environment and the Baltimore City Health Department have been notified of this event.
