Residents Encouraged to Attend Final Public Meeting to Weigh in on the City’s 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan
Monday Apr 17th, 2023
The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold its fifth and final public meeting on Monday, April 24, to present the final draft of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan and collect comments from community members. The plan covers solid waste collection systems, trash and recycling pickup, composting, and sustainability programs. Public input guides the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan’s development.
Those interested can join and participate in the final public meeting online or in-person. All stakeholders – including anyone who lives or works in the city, business owners and leaders, school officials and local activists, doctors and nurses – are encouraged to attend and voice their comments or concerns. Those unable to attend are encouraged to submit written comments and access the recorded meetings, which will be available on the DPW website. Monday, April 24, is the last day to submit written comments on the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan.
Public input is critical for guiding the development of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan. The plan identifies goals for managing the City’s solid waste stream and assesses existing solid waste collection systems both public and private and current and future disposal capacity needs. The plan also states how reuse, recycling and composting from residential, institutional, and commercial sources are to be implemented.
This fifth and final public meeting is being held on Monday, April 24 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. virtually and in-person. The in-person meeting will take place at Arlington Elementary School, 3705 W. Rogers Ave., Baltimore, Md. 21215. Spanish interpretation will be provided for in-person and virtual options.
