DPW to Hold Virtual Public Meeting to Provide Updates on City’s Modified Sanitary Consent Decree

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Annual Modified Consent Decree Public Meeting will be held virtually beginning at 6 p.m.

DPW’s Chief of Legal and Regulatory Affairs Paul DeSantis will review the Department’s work over the last 12 months to meet the terms and conditions of the Modified Consent Decree, a legal agreement between the City of Baltimore and Federal and State regulators, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), to address sanitary overflows from the sewer collection system. 

In addition, the public meeting provides an opportunity for residents to receive information about specific parts of the City’s Modified Consent Decree. Residents will be able to ask questions of DPW experts remotely in a virtual meeting room. The virtual room will feature learning stations that will cover topics such as the preventive maintenance programs, the Headworks Project, and the Expedited Reimbursement Program for basement backups caused by wet-weather events. 

Prior to the virtual public meeting, DPW will provide a registration link and additional log-on information.

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed on Independence Day , Thursday, July 4

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Independence Day will be observed on Thursday, July 4, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. The Independence Day closure WILL impact weekly trash and recycling collections. Trash and recycling makeup day is Saturday, July 6, 2024. There will be NO street sweeping during the Independence Day closure.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Juneteenth will be observed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSEDTrash and recycling collections WILL NOT take place on the Juneteenth holiday closure. The trash and recycling make-up day is Saturday, June 22. There will be NO street sweeping during the Juneteenth closure.
