Mulberry Street Reopens With Sewer Infrastructure Work Completed
Tuesday Mar 21st, 2017
Extensive sewer infrastructure repairs, and improvements to other underground utilities, has kept the 500 block of West Mulberry Street closed since that street collapsed on July 4, 2016. While some paving work continues, and occasional lane shifts may occur for this, the roadway is now open and will continue to be open to traffic.
Since early last year, a series of infrastructure failures impacted portions of downtown Baltimore. When examining the collapses, DPW engineers decided to use these as an opportunity to perform more extensive long-term sewer infrastructure improvements on more than a mile of a major sewer collection main under the City.
Sewer work continues on Cathedral Street and should be completed by the end of April.
