Application for Redevelopment Waiver and Quantity Control: Johns Hopkins University Fun Pit Project

The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for a redevelopment waiver and quantitative control waiver. If granted, the project will still need to provide water qualitative controls, per the requirements of the State’s Design Manual.

Project Description:

The project has an approximate area of 0.27 acres and is located on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus west of N. Charles Street. The project will consist of brick walkways, student picnic area, and pedestrian lighting.

The Applicant is requesting a redevelopment waiver in accordance with Article 7, §23-7 of the City Code. The existing impervious area coverage meets the conditions for this waiver. The Applicant will satisfy the water quality controls for this project by use of offset bank credits from the sites masterplan for 0.27 ac of this project.

The Applicant is requesting a Quantitative Control Waiver in accordance with Article 7, §23-1 of the City Code. The Applicant has demonstrated that on-site water quantity control for [0.04. ac of] this project is not practicable. The Applicant will satisfy the water quantity controls for this project by payment of fee-in-lieu of on-site stormwater management for 0.04 ac of this project.
