Application for Qualitative Control Waiver: Improvements to Sanitary Sewers in the Dundalk Sewershed

The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for a qualitative control and quantitative control waivers.

Project Description:

The project has an approximate area of 2,610 acres and is bounded by Eastern Avenue to the north, Inner Harbor to the south, Baltimore City/Baltimore County line to the east, and Newkirk Avenue to the west. Interstate 95 runs along the northwest border of the sewershed.

Project SC 902 includes the design and construction of improvements to sanitary sewers, manholes, and sewer house connections (SHCs) within the Dundalk Sewershed. The resulting construction project will include the rehabilitation of approximately 82,000 linear feet of existing sanitary sewer using cured-in-place pipe lining methods, cleaning and inspection of approximately 21,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer, open-cut point repairs at approximately 30 locations, repair and/or rehabilitation of approximately 990 sewer house connections, and installation of approximately 40 new manholes.

The Applicant is requesting a qualitative control waiver in accordance with Article 7, Division II, §23-2 of the City Code. The Applicant has demonstrated that the 1.45 acres of limits of disturbance required by this project will return the disturbed area to a predevelopment runoff condition. The applicant will not be required to provide qualitative control controls for 1.45 acres of this project.
