LOCUST POINT WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT BALTIMORE CITY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BALTIMORE CITY WATER CONTRACT NO. 1203

Application for Quantity and Quality Waiver

The City of Baltimore Department of Public Works is accepting public review and comments on this project’s application for quantity and quality waiver. If granted, the waiver would allow construction of this project to be governed by the rules and requirements of Baltimore City’s Ordinance 10-277.

Applicant: Baltimore City Mayor and City Council 100 N. Holliday St, Baltimore MD 21202

Project Description: The Baltimore City Department of Public Works is proposing to replace the aging existing underground water main pipelines with ductile iron pipelines in the Locust Point Area. Water main replacement will include some water house connections up to the water meter. All affected water mains and appurtenances will be replaced. Streets affected include: Haubert from Nicholson St. to Beason St., Hull St. from Nicholson St. to Beason St., Cooksie St. from Marriott St. to E. Clement St., Marriott St. from Hull St. to Towson St., Beason St. from Lowman St. to Andre St., Decatur St. from Beason St. to E. Fort St., Towson St. from Marriott St to Beason St., and Andre St from north of Beason St. to E. Fort St.

In order to meet the 2007 Baltimore City SWM Ordinance requirements for the proposed improvements, waivers for stormwater management water quality and quantity control are requested. The project is a pipeline project which will not create any new impervious surfaces and all disturbed area will be returned to its original condition therefore a water quality waiver is requested. Water quantity waivers are requested since the project runoff is captured and conveyed through public storm drain systems into tidal waters.
