Music, Education, Artists, Wildlife and More at Dam Jam 2014

September 12, 2014 (BALTIMORE, MD) —Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds everyone that the the fourth annual Dam Jam, a celebration of the region’s shared drinking water, is Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event takes place at the Willow Grove Nature Center at Cromwell Valley Park in Towson, 2175 Cromwell Bridge Road, and at the nearby Loch Raven Dam on Loch Raven Drive.

 

Dam Jam features visual artists and craft artisans, live music, native wildlife presentations, organized hikes, giveaways and more. Admission is FREE, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and experience the entire day's events. Food vendors will also be on site.

 

“This is an opportunity for everyone in the region to learn about the importance of our drinking water system, while also enjoying the beauty of Loch Raven Reservoir and Cromwell Valley Park,” says Director Chow.

 

Top notch musical entertainment will be provided by Ultra Faux in the morning, doing Original Gypsy Jazz. They are a fixture in the best clubs in the Baltimore-Annapolis-Columbia area, and have performed this summer in New York City and Asheville, NC. The afternoon musical treat is Nelly’s Echo, seen nationally on NBC’s The Voice. In addition to being a local musical force on the regional circuit, Nelly’s Echo has performed at over 150 colleges throughout the country during the past year and has performed for U.S. Armed Forces overseas. DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed on Independence Day , Thursday, July 4

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Independence Day will be observed on Thursday, July 4, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. The Independence Day closure WILL impact weekly trash and recycling collections. Trash and recycling makeup day is Saturday, July 6, 2024. There will be NO street sweeping during the Independence Day closure.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Juneteenth will be observed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSEDTrash and recycling collections WILL NOT take place on the Juneteenth holiday closure. The trash and recycling make-up day is Saturday, June 22. There will be NO street sweeping during the Juneteenth closure.
