Christmas Tree Collection and Mulching

BALTIMORE, MD (December 11, 2012):  The Baltimore City Department of Public Works today announced this season's schedule for both Christmas tree mulching and Christmas tree curbside pick-up.
 
Christmas tree mulching services will be offered at the Reedbird Avenue Citizen Convenience Center every Friday and Saturday in January from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dates are January 4th & 5th, 11th & 12th, 18th & 19th and 25th& 26th. The Convenience Center is located at 701 Reedbird Ave.
 
Residents may bring bags or containers if they wish to collect mulch for their own use. Community groups are also encouraged to bring bags or containers and collect free mulch for neighborhood gardens, while supplies last.
 
For residents who cannot bring their trees for mulching, the Department of Public Works will offer curbside tree collection from Wednesday, January 2, 2013 through Thursday, January 31, 2013. Residents should set out trees on their regularly scheduled trash collection day at the same location where their trash is collected.
 
All tinsel and ornaments must be removed from trees before they are set out for curbside collection or mulching.

Mayor Scott to Nominate Khalil Zaied as New Director of the Department of Public Works

Mayor Brandon M. Scott has announced his intent to nominate Khalil Zaied as the new Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW). Zaied, who most recently led the Department of Public Works in Champaign, Illinois, will join DPW on March 18, 2024. Previously, he was a nearly 20 year veteran of Baltimore City Government, serving as Deputy Mayor of Operations and Director of Transportation, among other roles.

Mayor Scott, City Agencies Highlight the Return of Weekly Recycling

On Monday, March 4, Mayor Brandon M. Scott, Department of Public Works Interim Director Richard J. Luna, Department of General Services Director Berke Attila, and Baltimore City Chief Administrative Officer Faith Leach joined city staff and community members to highlight the return of weekly, curbside recycling collections for Baltimore City residents, starting Tuesday, March 5.
