Portion of Reisterstown Road Closed for Sewer Project

Monday, August 10, 2020 - 8:30am to Tuesday, October 20, 2020 - 8:30am

The Baltimore City Departments of Public Works (DPW) and Transportation advises motorists that a portion of Reisterstown Road is closed for sewer line replacement work.

On or about Monday, August 10, 2020, Reisterstown Road will be closed to through traffic between Wylie and Virginia Avenues starting at 9:00 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.  All through northbound Reisterstown Road traffic will be detoured at Cold Spring Lane, and southbound traffic will detour at Woodland Avenue.  Local traffic and neighborhood parking will be maintained for area businesses and residents along Reisterstown Road during this time.  Access to the Zeta Center, located at 4501 Reisterstown Road, will remain open.

This portion of Reisterstown Road will remain closed to through traffic for approximately 10 weeks, as sewer line work is completed.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Northbound Reisterstown Road traffic will be detoured left onto Cold Spring Lane, right onto Wabash Avenue, right onto W. Garrison Avenue and left back to Reisterstown Road.

Southbound Reisterstown Road traffic will be detoured left onto Woodland Avenue, right onto Park Heights Avenue, right onto W. Cold Spring Lane and left back onto Reisterstown Road.

The sewer replacement work is a project of DPW’s Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Program.  Under this project, DPW is installing a new 30’ sanitary sewer line along Reisterstown Road. In addition, The small neighborhood sewer mains are also going to be renewed and upsized in the area to prevent wet weather overflows and minimize sewer back-ups into private property.
