Back-to-School Clothing Swap (For All Ages)

Back-to-School Clothing Swap (For All Ages)

Saturday, August 17, 2024 - 11:00am to 3:00pm

Did you know that the average American sends 81.5 pounds of clothing to the landfill each year? As one alternative, clothing swaps have grown in popularity in recent years as people look for more sustainable and affordable solutions to building a wardrobe for self-expression.

Join us at the Library for an all-ages swap before the school year begins. Adults and families alike are welcome to bring closet items that no longer work for them, and “shop” from other swappers’ closets, refreshing their closets while helping to keep excess clothing out of landfills. Scrap Bmore will be on site with family-friendly crafts for creative reuse, and barber haircuts for short hair will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In the spirit of a clothing swap, you are welcome to bring items you’d like to trade with you on the day of the event. All items should be in wearable condition (gently used, smoke free and clean.) This swap will be focused on uniforms, coats, shirts, pants, dresses, suits, jeans, jackets, blazers, shoes, handbags and backpacks. Underwear, swimwear, pajamas, and socks must be brand new in packaging, no exceptions.

Interested in donating or bringing by clothing ahead of time for the swap? We will accept donations on a rolling basis beginning July 1.Donations can be brought in Monday – Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. See Security at the Cathedral Street entrance to assist with your donation drop off, and ensure your donation is clearly labeled for “Clothing Swap.” Please contact asmith@prattlibrary.org with any questions regarding item eligibility or drop off.
