Final Sanitary Sewer Overflow Numbers Reported From May 5, 2017, Downpours

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works estimates that 3.2 million gallons of sanitary sewer/rain water were released as a result of sanitary sewer overflows due to heavy rain on Friday, May 5, 2017.

DPW Releases 2016 Water Quality Report Report

Marking the start of National Drinking Water Week, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to present its 2016 Water Quality Report.  The annual report informs water customers where the City’s drinking water comes from, how the water is treated, what it contains, and how it meets federal standards for tap water.

Cathedral Street Reopens in Mount Vernon

Cathedral Street, between Madison and Monument Streets in Baltimore City’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, has been reopened to traffic following a closure of more than six months for emergency sewer repair work. The reopening, on Friday morning, May 5, comes just in time for Baltimore’s iconic Flower Mart event.

DPW Extends Hours for Water Bill Call Center

Baltimore City water and sewer customers will be able to call a Customer Support and Services agent as late as 6:30 p.m., at least until the middle of May. The typical hours to call are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the extra two hours will allow customers more opportunity to speak with an agent about their water account.

Harford Road Closed at Herring Run Bridge 20 Inch Water Main Break

The Harford Road Bridge over Herring Run has been temporarily closed to traffic  between Argonne Drive and Chesterfield Avenue. This is due to a water main break that has occurred under the deck of the bridge.  Harford Road is closed in both northbound and southbound directions.

DPW EMPLOYEE NAMED YOUNG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E. has announced that Nathaniel Krause, an Engineer II in DPW’s Office of Compliance and Laboratories, has been named 2017 Young Engineer of the Year by the Engineering Society of Baltimore (ESB).
