 DPW Launches Textile Recycling Partnership  Blue Bins Available at Residential Drop-off Centers to Collect  Unwanted Clothes, Textile Items

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced that residents can now bring used clothing, shoes, sheets, and other textiles to any of DPW’s five Residential Drop-off Centers, where large blue collection bins will be available.

Now Accepting Public Comment: Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Revised Emergency Response Plan

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced the release of its Revised Emergency Response Plan (ERP), a reference tool to be used by City personnel during a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) or reported building backup emergency.   DPW will accept public comments pertaining to this document for 30 days, through October 21, 2023.

DPW’s  Northwest Transfer Station Scale Replacement Work Rescheduled: Sept. 7-9  Transfer Station to Remain Open to Residents, Small Haulers

Scale replacement work at the Northwest Transfer Station has been rescheduled due to a request from the vendor. This week, the scale replacement work will take place from Thursday, Sept. 7 to Saturday, Sept. 9. During this time, residents can continue to use the facility’s Residential Drop-Off Center and small commercial waste haulers will be able to dispose of their loads.   

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed Labor Day, Monday, September 4

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Interim Director Richard J. Luna reminds residents that Labor Day, Monday, September 4, 2023, is a City holiday. DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. The Labor Day closure does NOT impact trash and recycling collections. Monday is not a scheduled curbside trash or recycling collection day.

2023 Annual Report by the Design Build Executive Committee

The Design Build Executive Committee (DBEC) has submitted an Annual Report for 2023 covering the projects currently under contract and approved by the DBEC and the Board of Estimates (BOE). 

DPW’s Northwest Transfer Station to Replace Scale System Scale Replacement Work: Aug. 31- Sept. 2 Transfer Station to Remain Open to Residents, Small Haulers

DPW will be replacing scale equipment at the Northwest Transfer Station from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. During this time, residents can continue to use the facility’s Residential Drop-Off Center and small commercial waste haulers will be able to dispose of their loads.   While DPW replaces the scale system, small haulers will be charged a flat rate of $20 per load.
