Mask Up! Sweep Up! Day

Mask Up! Sweep Up! Day

Saturday, October 24, 2020 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark encourages residents to Mask Up! and Sweep Up! on Saturday, Oct. 24.  Residents are urged to put on a mask and pick up a broom, and sweep up litter around their property.

The Oct. 24 “Mask Up! Sweep Up!” event honors the tradition and spirit of the Mayor’s Fall Cleanup, which has been removed from the City’ calendar due to the impact of COVID-19 on safety protocols and  personnel requirements.

Residents do not need to register to participate in Mask Up! Sweep Up! Just put on your mask and pull out your household cleaning equipment and get started! When cleaning with non-household members, residents are urged to practice social distancing in addition to wearing masks.

Collected debris must be bagged and placed out with weekly trash collections. Residents can also bring this bagged trash to the Citizens' Convenience Drop-Off Centers. Participants who are disposing of collected debris at the Citizens' Convenience Drop-off Centers must follow the drop-off centers’ guidelines, which do not allow commercial vehicles.

For this event, DPW will not be able to distribute bags to participants. No bulk trash items will be collected, and roll-off dumpsters will not be distributed as part of Mask Up! Sweep Up! Day.
