March 8: Deadline for Care-a-lot Grant Applications

Wednesday, February 6, 2019 - 8:00am to Friday, March 8, 2019 - 5:00pm

Applications are now being accepted for Care-A-Lot Program grants.  Care-A-Lot is a city-led BMORE Beautiful initiative that supports innovative community groups and organizations who want to clean, mow, maintain and beautify vacant lots in Baltimore City.  The program awards Care-A-Lot grants annually to Baltimore City 501(c) 3 organizations that want to improve the appearance of their neighborhoods and transform vacant properties for community use.

Grants are awarded through a competitive, comprehensive application process. Groups such as community-based organizations, non-profits, community associations and community development corporations are eligible to apply.  Groups can receive grants for up to $5,500 to care for up to 25 lots during the grant period of May-October.

Grants are also available for a Care-A-Lot Project Coordinator. This person is required to oversee administrative management tasks such as submitting invoices and providing before and after photos of lots that are maintained as a result of this grant. This position is in keeping with Care-A-Lot goals that support the development of skills and professional growth of participants. The program also seeks to engage youth in the cleaning, greening and beautification of neighborhoods.  Youth participation is encouraged but not required to obtain a grant.

Grant applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019.
