Fire Flow Test

open fire hydrantA fire flow test is performed to determine the maximum flow rate the water distribution system can deliver to make sure that adequate water supply is available for fire protection.   Fire flow tests are typically requested by engineers, developers, contractors, fire-suppression sprinkler companies and/or insurance companies.

The tests provide actual pressure and flow data measured at specific fire hydrants so that we can be sure adequate water is available for fire-protection, sprinkler design, and sizing of domestic/fire service lines to ensure public safety.

To request a fire flow test, submit a completed Fire Flow Test Request Form to DPW.[email protected]. Send a check payable to Director of Finance in the amount of $773.00 to:

If the request is for an existing building, please include a Google Map of the property.

If the request is for a new building, please include a site plan indicating where the service will connect to the main.
